Evaluation and Assessment

Evaluation is a key part of the UC Links effort. UC Links evaluation addresses both state-mandated standards and locally appropriate site-based assessment strategies that match the specific needs of students served and the particular kinds of activities offered at proposed sites. UC Links sites respond to reporting requirements mandated by the State of California, the UC Office of the President’s Student Academic Preparation and Educational Partnerships (SAPEP) program, and the UC Links Statewide Office. Each site also develops site-specific assessment strategies that match both the needs of local students and the particular kinds of activities offered at the site. Reporting requirements include both K-12 and university student demographics and assessment outcomes. Click here to access the most recent UC Links Annual Report.

UC Links sites also take part in an ongoing collaborative effort to investigate and develop new and improved ways to assess student outcomes and evaluate program impact, especially in after school settings. Through this collaborative evaluation effort, UC Links continually works to adapt and improve its program activities and resources for participating youth.

Outcomes:

hand For the last two years (2006-07 and 2007-08), 70% of grades K-8 participants were reported to be performing at or above grade level. UC Links has thus met its state-mandated benchmark for student performance.
