The UC Links Office is thrilled to share some exciting news - Professor Amy Bintliff (UC San Diego) has recently received an award from the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) in recognition of her exemplary contributions through research on service-learning and community engagement.
Nominated by her colleagues at UC San Diego, Amy received the International Research Award that recognizes excellence in research and scholarship that advances the study and practice of service-learning and community engagement within and/or across borders and cultures, expanding knowledge on cultural, regional, and national practices in service-learning and community engagement theory and practice, especially work that centers or engages in non-US contexts.
Amy’s international research is conducted in Uganda in partnership with Beinomugisha Peninah of Victoria University and Zaharah Namanda of Africa ELI and is focused on The Wellbeing Club – a trauma-informed social and emotional learning curriculum, for refugee youth in Uganda.
Amy will be presented with this award at the IARSCLE conference in San Diego, October 2-4, 2024.

In addition to her international research, Amy has worked collaboratively with community partner La Colonia de Eden Gardens and has been the Principal Investigator for La Clase Mágica since founding UC Links Professor Olga Vásquez retired in 2019. Amy also directs the PAL Program (Partners at Learning) at UC San Diego.
